Default LIFT TIME...final ????'s

well if the weather cooperates, along with my kids, this is the weekend the lift goes in. Between reading install threads here on the site, and reading the directions that came with the lift, I think Im set. However, there are a few last minute things that you guys may be able to help me with...

First, the Teraflex instructions state to "loosen all control arm bolts and track bar bolts but DO NOT REMOVE THEM." This seems to contradict the write-ups on the forum where folks are REMOVING the bolts. What's the correct thing to do here...loosen the bolts or remove them?

Lastly, although the instructions say that there is a TEMPLATE included to help you install the rear trackbar bracket, there is in fact no template. Is there any preferred way to deal with this?

Thanks! Will post pics when done. Tires and wheels should be in next week sometime.

I did not loosen the control arms at all. I had no problem installing the lift. Just take off the trackbar at one end and you will be fine. I followed Wayoflife's writeup to the tee.

As for the template for the bracket, I did not use it. I held the bracket in place, making sure the holes lined up, and drilled straight through the bracket hole into the frame mount. Paper templates can get skewed so I used the actual bracket as the template. I recommend starting with a pilot hole first so as not to damage the bracket. After the pilot hole is drilled, move the bracket out of the way and drill the correct size. Worked perfectly for me. Good luck.

Well, I completed the lift and an totally SHOT!!!

In all it took me close to ten hours to complete. Had to go to sears two times for tools I thought I had but didnt...and succumbed to going back to get spring compressors. Three neighbors stopped by to bend my ear, drank a few cold one's with them, and got back to work.

My thoughts are that this really wasnt bad at all. I probably would have gotten through it faster if I had prepared the right way. Some of the bolts were a bitch to loosen but it all panned out.

Some things that may help some other folks who are going to do the teraflex coil lift....

The bumpstop extensions gave me a lot of grief and I even tried boiling them as was recommended by another forum member. Nothing worked. What did was this...

I took out the scissor jack from the trunk and placed it on the bottom coil mount on the axle. Put a little vaseline on the upper edge of the teraflex extension and then just cranked up the jack underneath....went in like butter. A huge timesaver! The other thing that helped me was the coil compressors. Now, at the end of the installation I realized I really didnt need these. My neighbor helped me out and brought over his jack, which was much better than mine and allowed me to get the jeep higher up on the jack stands. With this, there was enough droop to get the springs in. They were a pain though. I again lubed up the teraflex bumpstop extention with vaseline and this helped to clear the coil.

My body is hurtin and it really hit me now when I got into bed. Tomorrow I plan on getting back out there to check all the bolts for tightness. I took photos before the lift and will take after shots tomorrow and post tomorrow night. My 35s and wheels are due next week but you know what, stock with the lift doesnt look all that bad. It looks like it should have rolled off the dealer lot like this. Im sure the 35s are going to be the icing on the cake and I cant wait to get them on.

Thanks to everyone here who helped me get to this point!!
