Lift ? - What am I missing
I am looking at the various lifts available, but have a general question. What is the main point of the lift? From what I can tell, there are 2 main reasons to lift a jeep. 1 if for a better approach / departure angle and 2 is to fit a taller tire.
The taller tire is what we are really after here right? Meaning, if I put a 5" lift, but kept the 32" rubi tires, there would really be no benefit offroad with the exception of the approach / departure angle.
Is there something else I am missing? I ask becuase I am thinking about doing a TF leveling kit with Bushwacker flat fenders runing 35's. If the tire fits with no rubbing, is that just as good as running a 3" lift and regular fenders?
Thanks for reading this longwinded question!

Breakover angle is also effected, which in the case of a four door is critical. My 07 Unlimited with a 2.5" lift, flat flares and 35s was constantly hitting bottom. Switched to a 4.5" Clayton lift and I very seldom find anything I can't drive over.
That makes sense. I am in a 2 door. I believe that should make a difference. Is there an equivelent comparison for breakover angle? Example - a 4" lift with 35's on an unlimited will have the same breakover angle as a 2 door on 35's and only a 2" lift?

My plan is the flat fenders and a TF leveling kit (2" up front 1" out back). I will be offroading it and my local terrain is rocks and mud. That said it will only get offroad once a month or so. I am trying to find that magical balance to having fun every once in a while and having something I can live with. Just trying to make sure I take the correct things into account and not just going for the 'cool' factor.
