I've already torn my boot on the front driveshat...just have to get into the dealership to make them replace it under the warranty. If they give me any trouble...I'll just remind them that they put the lift, wheels and tires on.

Once I get the new one on, I'm either going to notch out the skid plate that cuts the boot or fab a new one to replace it...can't afford a new driveshaft at this time.

So I am finally getting my lift on in July. It's been months of waiting to get into the shop. I was going to do it myself, but cant afford all the tools, etc. Anyway, the shop I'm going to said "they've never seen an issue with the JK driveshafts" and then they showed me pics of JKs they've done, running everything from 2.5 BB kits to a full 6" custom coilover system on both 2 doors and 4 doors. They are a pretty reputable shop from what I've heard from buddies of mine that go wheeling, but it confused me quite a bit...

SO...getting to my question...
Running the set up in my sig, how long can I retain the stock shafts? A 2 dr with 4" of lift and full set of arms on 35s, 6 speed...
Are they basically going to be shot as soon as i flex or go off roading?
Once I get my lift put on, I was thinking if I stay on-road for a while, it'll be ok. Will this work?

Thanks for the help, just need a heads up to see if the stock shafts can last a while.

its hard to say for sure, but I would plan on replacing the rear shaft as soon as you can.

Okay so my 4" lift is going on my 2009 Rubi on Tuesday. The guy at the shop doing the work said I should probably plan on doing the driveshaft withing the first 10k miles. He recommends JE Reel and acted like I could probably do the work myself. How hard is this to do? I changed my oil once and unsuccessfully changed my sparks plugs on my Toyota in high school.

You having a 4dr, your rear DS will be fine until you bash it on something. The front can be replaced easily with a Jereel OE replacement. It bolts right up to the stock flanges. Believe Coast makes one aswell. Also , check your local driveline shops, they may be cheaper and do the install for less than ordering a new one.
