Default Which lights for windshield mount

Which beam pattern would be best for windshield mounted aux lights, spot lights or driving lights?

I will add additional lights to the front bumper at a later date and would like to not have to move the ones placed in windshield mounts except for lowering the windshield. I'm guessing that spot lights would work best for that location and driving beams for the front bumper?

Also, what would be some good brackets? I know KC has one, but are there other options? I'd like to stick to 6" lights.

Thanks

I will be adding driving lights for the windshield next week. I am using the Mopar windshield bracket. It seems to keep the lights down and out more than up and in. Personal choice.

What beam spread are you running, spot or driving?

Did you go with the driving beam spread over the spot beam for specific reasons?

I'm really wondering if the driving would be better for the windshield brackets as it would (hypothetically) help the narrow beams travel further down the trail. Likewise (hypothetically) driving beams on the front bumper would aid with getting the wider beam to come in contact with the ground sooner. Does that work out or am I just over thinking this?

I have the Hella 500s. I have not had time to aim them correctly, but they put out an assload of light. I am also going to paint the inside of the lamps black right around the border where the lamps meet the housings because there is a good bit of glare coming from them. Once I do that and aim them they will be good.

I have the KC 130w Long Range mounted on Smitty brackets. It's a pretty tight beam and the brackets mount low like the Mopar brackets for 1/4 of the cost.

Excellent! Thanks to everyone for replying - looks like the spot lights are more popular for this mount. I really don't want to wire lights to the windshield just to replace them in 6 months and re-wire them to the bumper and wire new ones to the windshield.

Place them flat on some newspaper and then spray around the edge. This is what I did and it worked out perfectly, no side glare at all. If you happen to get a little paint on the front of the lens take some alcohol and it wipes off.
