Default Limp mode after regear - trail dash not reprograming

I have a 2012 JKUR auto. Just regeared to 5.13 for 37s. I used my super chips trail dash to try and reprogram for the new gear ratio and it says it successfully updated but it's in limp mode. I tried updating again, still in limp mode. Reset to factory then updated again, still in limp mode. Besides getting a different programmer what are my options. Very frustrating for a $500 programmer

You have to clear the limp mode code first before you can reprogram. Once you clear the code, set your new gear ratio and you should be good.

I cleared the error codes each time before I set the gear ratio.

When mine went into limp mode, my mechanic buddy had a professional code reader that cleared my code. Do you have the latest software update for your trail dash?

Updating worked. I bet you have to remove the octane power programs to update the gear ratio. When I reset to factory on the device it reset everything but my 87 octane program, but I had to remove that to update the device. Gave me a clean slate to setup correctly. BTW 5.13 gears feel awesome

Thanks for the update. I would have had the same problem if I hadn't found this thread.

Since the thread was revived -

For what it's worth, I've had similar problem with a Bully Dog as well. Recently regeared and had all sorts of issues getting it programmed. The program would just continue locking up on me and never complete. After beating my head against the wall for an hour or so.....borrowed a buddy's unused Superchips programmer and got it done so I could get home. Went home and updated my Bully Dog, uninstalled the Superchips, and the Bully Dog worked like a charm after the update.

That is similar to what was mentioned above. Sounds like if a programmer is not up to date it may not work. Good to know.
