Default Locked rear diff on daily driver?

Anyone running a full time locker in the rear of their "daily driver" JK?? I am just exploring options and seeing if I can save money yet still have some performance. I have done a whole mess of trails with open diffs but I feel that I am ready to step up to some more difficult trails but dont wanna run such a high risk of breaking parts... Ive never run lockrs before but have read many opinions on set ups, I just wanna get some actual feedback

Not an expert. But I would not do this, im pretty sure you would chirp the tires on every turn. Resulting in uneven tire wear and I'm sure there would be some other unforeseen problems as well. Maybe I'm wrong though

Are you talking about spooled or an auto locker? Spooled would definitely cause your outside tire to chirp every corner. An auto locker would release if you take your foot off the gas.

Back in the days my friends and I would either run a Spool or weld the spider gears to have that Posi effect when we used to race. By having a locked rear end full time, two things may happen...

-Your rear tires will wear out quickly.
-In Rain or Snow there is a possibility that as you execute a turn at certain speeds the Jeep could spin out of control and 360 because you no longer have an open differential.

I am currently running a Yukon grizzly auto locker, basically the same as a Detroit. It's not terrible on the road but you defiantly know its there. My rear tires are showing more wear and it takes some getting used to on winding roads since it unlocks when you let off the throttle it will turn better and vice-versa. If I ha to do it again I would spend a few hundred more on the Yukon zip air locker. It is similar to an arb but costs a few hundred less.

Thanks for the quick responses. I was reffering to something similar to the detroit locker setup. I was told by a local shop, that I will leave un-named, that it wouldnt hurt the driving experience much, although I would experience some small "clacking" noise while shifting gears or accelerating out of corners. Since I was skeptical, I thought I would post to see how many others are running this setup.

Optimally, I would like to run front and rear auburn gear ected lockers. Think it would be exceptional to have limited slip and lockers on command

The Ected locker isn't a strong as the Detroit locker and any limited slip will eventually wear out so you maybe replacing it in a few years depending on how hard you are on it. I would look at the Aussie locker for the price. The Ected is almost as expensive as the ARB and isn't nearly as strong.

I'm running the zip locker in the rear with an ARB compressor under the hood. I feel this is the best set up as you can use the compressor to air up on the trail and runs the locker. A selectable is always best for the rear and front for our JK's. I bent the rear axles twice and that was without a locker. Just my opinion.

I did a lot of research and went with a Detroit auto locker up front, and a Detroit Trutrac rear. No lines wires or buttons to push, and I'm told by dynatrac, and Detroit, (have not installed them yet) that it will be invisible on road, and a beast off road.

I ran a full Detroit in my YJ for several years and it drove fine as my daily driver. Sure there was the odd popping noise from time to time, but as long as you pay attention to what you're doing when turning on wet roads it shouldn't impact the driveability day to day. And yes it definitely was a beast off-road, without question.
