The detroit will destruct if you break an axle shaft under load. The good news is that its an easy fix... once you pull the carrier out and take it apart.

If locked, the ARB doesnt' shock load nearly as bad and typically doesn't fail. I've run both on a lot of trails over a lot of years and the ARB is better in every way - IF installed correctly.
