Default Locker Questions

I am looking into getting lockers for my 2012 JKU Sport. Two questions.... which ones would you recommend? Should I put lockers in both axles?

You can't go wrong with ARB. As far as gearing goes.. What tire size do you want to end up with?

From what I have read lockers in the front diff is not a good idea with the d30. Its easier to snap an axle. As for the gears do you have a manual or auto trans?

I went with 4.88 when I regeared, and had a grizzly locker put in the rear since they were in there anyway.

If you aren't in rocks and don't subscribe to the too much throttle is never enough philosophy then a locked 30 can survive quite well even with 35s. just ask what you plan to do with the Jeep to decide if you need a front locker. Also, remember that an ARB means buying an air compressor too. This is a good thing to have, but you will need to budget for one if you don't already have one.

Agree with this, really depends on your budget. ARB is regarded by most as the best, but also the most expensive. Mostly because you need to add an air compressor to the tab. You don't need a full OBA system, but might as well since your doing the work (or getting it done) anyway.

Locking the rear is more imporatant. So if you want to lock one, do the rear first. Many lock only the rear.

I did an ARB + Viair OBA for the rear. I did an axle swap for the front -- got a near new Rubi front D44 with e locker. When the front breaks or wears out, I'll replace it with an ARB.

For the gears: Not much difference between 4.56 and 4.88. I haven't regeared, find the 3.73 is fine after using the AEV Procal. If I was going to re-gear, I'd do the 4.88. I'll probably wait until eventually moving to 37's. At that point, might do 5.13. Not sure though.

What have you heard about the Detroit Lockers?

Good advice about doing the rear first. Probably should try that first and see if I feel i really even need the front done.
