That is a huge can of worms

Everybody has a opinion of course, Both are needed.

IF you plan on getting both I would get a front first.

The OX has almost nothing to break.

There's a good article in JP magazine on the different lockers. Serach for Jeep Lockers Lowdown.

would it even be practical to install a locker on a dana 30? would something break real easy? im not looking to do any real hard rock crawling or nothin. i mean, i live in south louisiana......there is nowhere here to ride except mud. i would like however to possibly take some trips to areas where there are trails. maybe even take a road trip to moab next year.

im running 35's. i wouldnt be against changing the axles. does it have to be torn down like it does to install gears for axles?

i know i should, but i dont want to pay for it all to get done at once. im thinking now that i may wait on the lockers. just get the gears now. then i can do a locker at a time if i have to later. i just cant make myself go that deep into the savings account.

im really just starting learn about some of this stuff. one thing that i have learned is that i should have gotten a rubicon. thats my problem though, im a terrible impulse buyer. i gotta have everything now now NOW..... i should have researched more before i bought my jeep. i though the rubicon was just different stickers, tires, and power stuff. i didnt even bother to look at em. too much money. im quite sure i have spent the difference already........and counting.

thanks guys for all the info

If you upgrade to chrome moly axles in that D30 with a good locker, it'll be fine for your 35s.

The JK has a hybrid front axle. Throw some chrome moly axle shafts in there and they will be stronger then the Mopar 44.

As far as putting them in. Should be easy. Read this by justinstoffregen

You can build a much more capable Jeep just longer to get there. Look at "x No Compromise Offroad x'"s Jeep. By the Tie he's done with it, maybe the dash will still be stock.
