Default Lockers?

I have a stock X with 3.73 gears. I wanted to order it with the OEM locker but I got one off the lot instead. What is the best way to get lockers? I here Eaton makes a good locker. Any advice?

Thanks

There are many options! Check out ARB air lockers, good rep and a lot of people use them! Do a search, upper right near control panel, and see what you come up with!

To my knowledge, Eaton does not make a locker. They make a fine limited slip unit, though. Probably one of if not the best. The Detriot Locker is probably what you are reffing to. I believe Richmond Gear makes those, if I am not mistaken. There are also others available, such as the OX Locker and ARB, as well as "lunchbox" lockers like the Aussie.

Eaton make a locker, Auburn makes the "locking" LSD. I have both. E-Locker up front on the 30, ETCED in the rear on the 44.

Auburn ETCED is also available for the 30 as well as the 44 I have both running 4.88s and 35s on my X. One neet thing with the auburns is you can lock the rear in 2 wheel drive as well as 4 wheel the front I fixed so it only locks in 4 low cause if you them both locked you don't need to be haulin a$$.

Thanks for all the great advice.

The ARB lockers sound good but they need an air source, right. Where do you mount it as I have a two door with a family of four and not any room to spare. Can it mount under the hood?

I mounted the air compressor under the hood of my XJ with the 4.0 engine. Im sure there would be room for it under the hood of the JK too. Its not a big pump, maybe 8"deep by 4" wide and 5" tall...give or take. LOVE my ARBs and have never had trouble with them since installation!

I heard there is an electronic locker thats limited slip until you lock it, I would look into that one for sure also.

I seem to remember that wayoflife had one or two of the stock lockers fail, so he now has a non-Rubicon rear D44 with an ARB and chromoloy shafts. He could probably offer some insights on the locker comparo.

You're right. Eaton does indeed own Detroit now. Detroit used to be it's own entity years ago. I stand corrected, sir. Thanks for the right info.

Yes it requires the use of a compressor which ARB also makes.

And yes we now carry a bracket for it to be mounted under the hood.
