Sorry guys but it isn't the stock u-joints that are the problem, it's the stock axle shafts. The ears are weak and they flex. When that happens the clips pop and the u-joint binds and breaks.

None at all, I do wheel it pretty hard but here in the south its mostly dirt/sand and even where there are rock obstacles they usually allow for some tire slippage.

I also ease thru most difficult obstacles in 4 lo instaed of hammering thru stuff.

Stock u-joints are Spicers so should be good.

When the JKs first came out there were reports of people spinning off the caps on their U-joints. The preventative was to tack weld the caps. This flies in the face of what you and Dynatrack are saying, but we were still learning things back in '07. Not trying to say you or Dynatrack are wrong--but there is history behind what I wrote.

Nope, we're saying the same thing. The caps were spinning because the ears were weak. It wasn't a u-joint issue but the weak ears are still an issue today.

You'll want to pull the shaft before you drive it home. The JK style unit bearings are ok without an outer shaft.
