I can't believe there aren't more people running this. Thanks to all who have posted info up on it though.

i think the gen2 has only been available for a month now, so it may take a little more time. wayoflife may not be exactly 100% independent on this, but i think if you ask him specific questions about the bumper/tire carrier he'll shoot straight with you.

Thanks for the input so far guys
i'm guessing northside has the gen1, but you'll need northside to explain exactly. it appears that changes to the bump stop were made with the gen2 changes. if you look at the pics, i believe the new tire carrier incorporates the stock bump stops as well as an aftermarket one. this is a welcomed change over the gen1. the gen1 version has a 2-3 inch rubber stop that mounts to the carrier and butts up to the tailgate. i was never pleased with this design as it marks up the tail gate and concentrates all force to one point on the tailgate (really sucks if you ever back into a tree, and unfortunately this is first hand knowledge). i made some changes to mine to help this and didn't mention anything in the earlier post, because it looks like this was addressed on the gen2. it appears the gen2 has a bump stop that mounts in the stock tire carrier mount points on the tailgate (as well as using the existing factory bump stops). strangely enough, the gen1 design looks like it was intended to incorporate use of the factory bump stops, but when the tire carrier is closed, there is still an inch or two between the tire carrier and the factory bump stops - so no support there. i originally thought i installed incorrectly, but i think it is like that for everyone.

again, the design on the gen2 looks like it corrects this issue.

Hey guys, we have a couple of brackets from the GEN 2 tire carrier that will work on your GEN 1 tire carriers that will upgrade it to make contact with your factory Rubber bumpers just like the GEN 2. It also has a plate you bolt on your door where the GEN 1 bumper makes contact to make it stronger. Give us a call and we will send you the upgrade at no charge.

Chris,
Do you see any way of Fabbing a winch mount to this rear bumper and still retaining the 2" reciever? Muffler is already moved. If not can the reciever mount handle the stress of a hitch mounted winch?

WOL, how come yours looks square, but on http://www.lodoffroad.com/LoD%20Signature%20Rear%20Gallery/index.html it looks like an A-frame?

I have to go back and see what I ordered on the front bumper and the sliders. I think it was matte. Gotta check the e-mail.

I'm thinking some of them are from Gen 1. I just don't know which is which.

the swing out tire carrier was redesigned and released at sema 2008. all the new gen2 rear bumper tire carriers will now have the square setup and with all the extra features like adjustability and optional 3rd brake light kit.
