Default Long arfm vs short arm

I am looking for the pros and cons between the two lifts in general///say about 4 inches of lift and 35s or 37s. I know the long arms have better angles and flex a bit more but what about street manners and handling. Is there that much difference off road? I plan on wheelin it but it also will be my daily driver so street manners are more of a priority. Any opinions?

where you will see the most difference in long arms is ON pavement. if you're only gonna run 35's, you'll be more than fine with factory length arms which are already way longer than what the old TJ's had. heck, i would run 37's with factory length arms and not bat an eye. sure, long arms are nice and i do have them but i'm also running 40" tires and coilovers.

we bump heads on this, I'm a firm believer in long arms on the two door, even with 35's

LOL!! naw, there's no head bumpin on this one. on a 2-door, you'll definitely feel the benefits of long arms. it's just for the cost, i don't think it's worth it for the average guy. if you can afford it, it's the way to go.

In an ideal world the arms would be infinitely long for road performance. This would allow the axle (wheels) to travel in perfect vertical trajectory.

I thought you were against cutting and welding mounts ...

Long arms are nice. They provide a better ride, especially on road, and can offer more articulation, but that articulation is limited by other factors as well. However, the factory length arms are already pretty long, and offer a decent ride and articulation. Yes, long arms are cool and great and all, but on the JK, I just don't see the added benifit of long arms on the JK when compared to the price tag that is attached to them. So far, I am completely satisfied with my short arm kit and 37s.

Thanks guys.....BTW, this would be for a 4 door unlimited so the added WB would come into to play as well. Sounds like the longer arms are better on the pavement than I expected.

I only lifted my jk 4dr 3" with te teraflex 3" longarm lift. It rides MUCH better than stock, and noticeably better than my buddies jk 4dr with the teraflex 3" full flex arm lift. On bumpy as hell rodes, like those on base on quantico, mine is much smoother over the bumps. To ME, it's worth the extra money. Plus I got my kit for MUCH less than advertised from bruiser, a vendor on here.
