Default Long Arm Upgrade Worth It?

Can anyone with a Long Arm chime in please. I have been debating whether or not a Long Arm upgrade is worth all the extra money. They are not cheap. If I decided to go this route it will be one of the big three: EVO, Teraflex or Rock Krawler. They are all around the same price point, but TF has a great special going on right now with "free" ELKA shocks with the purchase of their elite LCG long arm. I think all three have exceptional quality and customer service. So I was hoping to hear from some of you who have upgraded and loved it or thought it was a waste of money.

Right now I am running a 2.5" TF coil lift with 35" tires. My wheels do not have adequate backspacing to allow for the EVO Bolt On Coilovers, I am running spacers. I just dont see spending so much money on the coil overs and have to spend more on new wheels. Plus I really like my wheels now.

Thanks guys/ gals.

I am also interested in this subject. I've been told that if you are running a 4in lift or less, then you get no real benefits from a long arm vs a short arm. I'm told that when you get up higher then 4 inches is when the long arms really come in to play. Is this true or does a long arm really increase flex etc?

TeraFlex long/short arm kits use the same coils/bumpstop/shocks, so they both flex the same amount. It's a myth that a long arm increases your flex, UNLESS you run longer shocks, reduced bumpstops or have longer travel coils/shocks vs a short arm version. You do gain some benefits from a long arm even in the 3" range. Your JK will handle better and smoother on/off road at any speed.

I was looking at the 4" lifts. Is the extra money worth it? It is my daily driver and really a mall crawler. I have taken it on the rocks but not as much as I would like. So as someone who drives 60+ miles a day is the long arm worth it?

I drive almost 45 miles a day with mine, and really like it. TeraFlex came out with our 4" short arm kits first and had several locals buy it. When the long arm kits came out we called all of them up. Every single person that upgrade was very very impressed at the difference it made on and off road. If you have to drive that far every day, would you not want a nicer ride? Feel free to contact me for any questions.

Personal experiance.... Long arm is worth it. I had a full short arm kit 4" from Teraflex and thought it rode nice and handled offroad perfect. There are no expressions or comments for how the long arm compares to the short arms. If I would have to do it all over again and had the money, I would buy long arm. Currently running Teraflex 6" long arm with Speed bumps.

From personal experience of running long arms with Coils and shocks, and EVO MFG Coilovers with short arms. The EVO Coilovers win hands down in ride comfort and wheel travel. You simply can not beat coilovers. I drive 64 miles on day on the busy 91 freeway in LA. It really makes my drive and life (2 1/2-3 hours a day driving) comfortable.

If you can not change out wheels for the coilovers invest in really good King Shocks to go along with the long arm kit. Paired with our EVO Plush ride coils its the softest on the market.
