Default Long Arms Vs. Adjustable control arms?

As far as driveability on the street is there a noticeable difference between the two as far as bumps in the road, going over rail road tracks etc?
Just wondering if I should spend the extra on long arms or will I be very content with adjustables and saving a few bucks.
