if you want to add a snorkel down the line, you need to get a cai with a box like a volant... they all work the same, they just let more air in

if you dont want a snorkel, do what i did and get an airaid or somethin simple like that - i noticed definite gains in hp and mpg (i can travel faster in the same gear on the highway, keepin rpms down and saving me gas).. i love mine

on the low range, acceleration is DEFinitely better because i have 35s with a 4" lift (average setup for the forum) and i gained some power that i lost

the engine also sounds much more aggressive although im more satisfied with the performance gains than cosmetic stuff

Thanks guys. I had a 99 sahara with 4 inch lift and put a cai on it, but wasnt happy with it. On that jeep, it seemed that the throttle body spacer did more.

Thanks for your help.

I gained some improved throttle reponse from mine, especially in the dead spot area around 2000-2500 RPMs. No noticeable MPG change. Don't expect miracles. Consensus seems to be the throttle body spacer is a waste. I got mine for free and sold it on eBay to offset some of the cost of the intake. Try doing a search, there are a ton of threads on this which you could read for hours, and you'll know everything there is to know pro and con about what's available and what to expect.

I have an S&B intake i love it and recomend it to anyone. they do flow testing and they back up there results with independant testing. The filters are meant to be world class also. with the very subtle note of my exhaust and the almost smooth v8 like roar of my intake but only under load it makes the jeep sound very nice indeed.

I installed an Air Raid and absolutely love it. Had been a K&N fan on my other vehicles but the Air Raid beats them hands down.
