Default Looking for power!

I have a two door rubi with 35's on the stock 4:10's but I find that going up parley's canyon is a slow and gutless experience. My mileage is already pretty bad because of the tires so gaining mpg and power would be a nice thing! I was going to swap to 5:13's but have been hearing that its not a good idea for a DD? Some hype about the axle housing and gearing heating too much on the way to moab? Regardless I'm looking for a way to gain some power so if anyone has had good experiences with power gain please let me know!!

I would say a tuner/programer, but if you tune for power, your mpg will be shittier..

Hearing from who? Re-gearing is the single biggest performance improvement you can do to a JK, especially when you have an auto and slap those bigger tires on. This question is asked every single day, there are literally thousands of posts on the subject. Spend some time reading through them, and check the info and charts in the FAQ's, before you let someone (that probably doesn't even own a JK?) scare you off...

Next option would be a tuner (superchips or hypertech or diablo)

And then a supercharger (ripp or avenger, haven't heard anything about hesco in a very long time). Big note here is that Ripp recommends re-gearing before a s/c!!!

And after that, you are looking at a hemi swap.

If your running at high elevation an ECU programmer, intake/exhaust combo might be a great way to gain HP without getting too exotic or expensive.

I'm running 35's on 4:10s and climb mountain passes around here at 70 mph.
BUT our mountian passes are below 3,000 ft so the air is still rich and cool.

Maybe someone from Denver or Flagstaff with these mods can chime in.

a supercharger is way out of the question because the stock v6 isn't strong enough to handle them and apparently teraflex doesn't even sell them anymore so....and a hemi swap is in the upwards of 10k's. not gonna happen.

looks like regearing, intake exhaust and chip are the best ways to go??

Search a bit more on intakes and exhausts before you drop the coin. Intakes are generally frowned on since they have minimal performance gains for the cost, and have a bad habit of sucking water into the engine. (unless you are going to a snorkel?) And if you read through enough posts concerning exhausts, the common theme seems to be that the sound is better, but again, the cost doesn't justify the minimal gains on this engine.

Just an opinion, but that money might be better spent on the gears.

Where did you hear that crap from... the RIPP supercharger is more than capable of handling the altitude. In fact, they are coming out with a second version that is even simpler than the first. If the RIPP rep is on... can you please chime in.

I drove Parleys the other day in my Rubi Unlimited and had no problem holding 75 or 80 going up both sides. It never shifted into OD but I didn't expect it to. I have a K&N filter and Magna Flow exhaust and I think they helped immensely. Granted this was with the stock wheels and tires but I had not problems. Next week the 35s and lift will be installed and we'll see how well it does then. I am planning on 5.13s in the future though.

I heard that "crap" from teraflex themselves. Not only that I also have a very loyal customer that comes in on a regular basis that has an unlimited Rubicon that had a supercharger put on (not sure of the brand) that was only pushing 4 lbs and he blew up. He than went to teraflex to see if they could do anything and they told him that they couldn't...So at that point he needed a new motor and went to the Hemi conversion. So...the "crap" that you keep thinking I'm talking about isn't actually "crap", it's the facts. Sorry...please don't even reply if all your gonna do is argue with me, thanks
