Default Looking for Side Steps to work with Rubicon Sliders

My wife is pregnant with twins atm. While she's still able to climb in and out of the Jeep w/o any trouble now I want to get some steps installed for when she's closing in on 6 months.

I'd like to spend as little money as possible since I plan on putting on some decent sliders later. I'd prefer a package that requires bolting on only so I don't jack up the frame for my final install with holes.

I'd also like to not have to pull of the rubi sliders with the install but I'm not 100% against it.

If anybody has any experience trying to do this let me know.

Appreciate any input.

I've been wondering the same thing....all the searching I have done makes it look like you have to remove the oem sliders and replace them with another....

Only ones that I've found are made by Wild Boar Products. I had a quote a while ago and I believe they were around $200 for the Unlimited, but they're on the site now for $250. They claim they can be mounted in either the up or down position for more or less ground clearance.

I got Rugged Ridge rock rails that are great for stepping into the Jeep. They mount very easily on the body mounts. They are not hard core rock rails but they look great with the Rubi sliders and add protection.

The only step that I could find which required no modification to any components was the Westin steps. They bolt directly to the frame in existing holes. They do in effect render the Rubi sliders useless since they come out below the sliders and become the lowest point on your rocker. However, they do allow you to run both at the same time.

All others that I could find at the time required either bolting to or welding to the Rubi rails...or a complete replacement.

Thanks for the input.

Seems the most economical route is going to be buying the LoD sliders I want in the end. I was hoping to push on some useless steps for a hundred or so. Don't want to spend 300ish only to turn around and spend 700 later.

Now to convince the wife...

MBRP makes a step that sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for.
From their site: "Our step(s) can be purchased separately for those who want to simply bolt on a rugged step designed to help with getting into the JK."
And, I believe they're a JK-Forum sponsor, to boot.

From the sounds of it you are looking more for something to help getting into your jeep versus protection so I'd say the RR is a good choice since it will allow you to run them without removing the rubi rockers (although you might want to add some rubber to prevent them from making noise).

We ran the RR for the first couple of months because we wanted something to help our kids get into our lifted jeep but after catching the rock crawling bug we had to go another direction. Good luck with you decision making.

If you want a cheap stop gap measure just use a step stool. While not with a Jeep my wife's grandmother gets into a very high truck regularly and she seems to prefer the stool vice stepping on something like side steps. She says it is broader and more stable.

That's what I do. Having said that, let me also add that if you contact Jim at Shrockworks and tell him you want to keep the stock Rubi rail, he can fab up a set of top-notch rock rails for you. You can add some no-skid to the top yourself and have a decent step. The downsides: Jim will charge you immediately for the rails, and you'll not have them for a couple months. But, when you're done you will have the strongest, best looking set-up out there.
