I just got back from my local jeep shop and they took a look at all of my steering components and they said everything is all good and then they took a look and noticed that my gear box output shaft has a lot of movement in it and that is what is causing my steering to be loose. And the cost to rebuild my gearbox I could buy I new one so I guess it's time to buy a new gear box if jeep doesn't warranty it because of my lift and tires:(

Try tightening your worm gear... If you look on top of steering box, you'll see a nut around a shaft with a hex head insert. Loosen that hex head bolt, put wrench onto nut, and then tighten the hex head bolt down some, then tighten the nut down to box.

That will fix it for awhile. Mine's been good now for 6 months without loosening back up.

But, if your box is going out. From what I've heard, it's easier and cheaper to get a "new" one than rebuild it. Still damn expensive though.

DISCLAIMER: I might have the direction of the turn for the hex head screw wrong, you might need to "unscrew" it (upwards) to tighten the worm gear. My father was helping me and that was his expertise guiding me. So do it one way, and you should see slack either appear or disappear at bottom.

I'm going to jeep tomorrow and I am going to try my luck and see if they will replace my gear box

I picked up my jeep from the dealer and they said they was nothing wrong and that it could be my stabilizers which I I got 1 month ago.

It sounds to me like your caster is off due to your lift, and you need to correct your steering with a drag link flip kit and a sector shaft reinforcing kit. I recently added the Synergy sector shaft kit to my Jeep and it made a big difference in firming up the steering slop.

Ya my brother keeps on telling me to do the drag link flip kit. And for all of the other stuff it makes sense that it would stiffen all of the steering up

thanks for posting.
