Low-cost / Free mods that should be done?
I put some heavy duty Velcro strips on the sides of the inside of center console. Then added some velcro backed magazine (pistol mag) loops to organize my led light, leatherman, screw driver and what not so it's not a jumbled mess in there.
$5 for Velcro. $10 ish for the mag loops. I'm sure there are other Velcro organizers that would prove useful.

Anyway, just a couple coats of VHT nightshade (from auto parts store), let dry, and you're good to go. Don't go too dark, u want the lights to show through when they are on. I did my side markers very very dark cause IMO they don't serve a purpose
Better pic of side marker

All this talk of heat shrinking, and now stubbying antennas... 4WheelParts carries stubby antennas that are inexpensive. They come in 6", 9" and 12" lengths. Just a thought. I went with the 12"...

i just like using what i already have on hand. probably cost about $0.99 total. Just read the last two posts. Here's a pic of what I did. I've since shortened it up a bit more to clear my windshield lights.

Easy, cheap little mod.

I opened the jaws of the vice just enough for the antenna shaft to slide through but not enough for the ball to pass by and gave the antenna a snap downward.. the ball popped right off.
Cut the mast and used epoxy to put the ball back on.
Bedlined it... done.
No perceivable loss of reception, but then I don't use the radio at all..
