Just wanted to offer some condolences... It may seem like a big scary screw-up, but once corrected, you should never notice anything was ever done.

I still cast my vote for just having a welder fill in the holes to the proper location.

Those pictures of the lower control arm mounts have NOT been molested! Sorry, but they come elongated that way from the factory. The "ground down" part is from the actual bolt moving back and forth wearing off the paint.

I challenge every single person that responded to this to go and remove your front lower control arm bolts from the frame and look at the holes. They will be elongated with a raised tab on each side to accomodate a cam washer.

Sorry, for the bad news but this is how Jeep built the control arm mounts.

Here is how I know this. I had the same problem, however my Jeep has never been in a shop, therefore no one has ever had the chance to "elongate" those holes.

If the shop did attempt to elongate those holes and do some grinding you would have bare spots all over the place becasue those two raised tabs make it a real PITA to grind down in that little area.

Good luck though however you decide to pursue this.

I agree, taking it to a reputable welder and they can probably fix it for a fraction the cost of the dealership, you dont want cam bolts on your jeep, they dont work well and always get knocked out of place.

For the $350.00 the dealer is quoting to install and adjust cam bolts you could come pretty close to the cost of fixing the holes and buying adjustable control arms (which is probably your ultimate objective because you will have a wider band of adjustment options in case you raise or lower your vehicle in the future).

I replaced all 8 lower control arm bolts on my 11' Unl. rubi. and all the factory holes were absolutely round, not elongated even the slightest. I'm not saying what anyone else's Jeep is like but that's the way mine were; I just did them all a week or so ago. I was looking very carefully at all the holes, both sides of each bolt, for any signs of wear or anything else unusual and all the factory holes were perfectly round.

Yeah, on the 2012's I think all the holes are square, but the northridge bolts I put in were still very tight (before they ground the holes out).

This washer kit can help prevent front lower and rear upper control arm bolts at the axle end from coming loose.

Thanks for the reply NVRDUN, but I replaced the bolts on my 2012 with the northridge bolt kit a week ago myself, and the holes were square. I believe the 2012 they went to square holes instead of round holes on your 2011.

I have a 2010 JKU Rubicon. I bought my jeep with 12 miles on it. It has only been worked on by me, even the alignment. The picture that was posted of the front frame side lower control arm mounts is exactly like my 2010. Perhaps it is possible that sometime during my Jeeps first 12 miles of life someone did that, but I doubt it.

I can try and get a picture, but I have welded washers on so it may be difficult to see.
