i debated that, but id rather do it my self. I might try and borrow a buddies aluminum welder to do mine, but I wouldnt be upset running steel by any means either...i can get either from my store for dirt cheap so that makes it hard for me to pay more to have someone do it when i can do it for less. not to derail but did you use steel or aluminum?

I used 2"x.25" steel dom. With aluminum I would go solid 2" rod for lowers and no welder would be needed. Just drill and tap.

Ok

I understand the whole mild steel vs chromoly, but aluminum?

If I've already bent steel ones I wouldn't think if aluminum...

I have access to a friends shop, he has a lift and tons of welding gear and several lathe's, he mostly makes custom drive shafts

7075 aluminum is roughly the same strength as 1020-1026 alloy

aluminum can gall and if i were to do it i would probably go slightly thicker than i would if i used dom. Even at that though you could go to control arms weighing 5lbs a pop compared to 15lbs a pop. Not a huge weight savings by any means, but can be done safely id say, even on the heavy jks.
