the lexan idea using the hook and loop fastening is a good idea.

you put it on for road trips or whenever you feel you need the protection, but then can just pull it off for cleaning or when its raining.

I like it.

The same guy who made and sold the below (in black too) used to sell a windshield piece that goes right below the wipers and glass. I asked him if he still made it because I can't find it on that auction site. I will keep you posted.

Thank you! That is a nice looking guard and would probaly help. I just got back from my dealership and guess what? Rock. So I'm SOL until I can get $309 for a new windshield. Yeah. He said there are such a thing as stress fractures and they would replace those windshields, but alas, mine was road trash. If anyone in the Birmingham area wants service or a good dealership use Benchmark Chrysler Jeep on Grantsmill. They really are a good team. (My Jeep is the second vehicle I bought from there.)
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and ideas.

I don't know if this will help or not with any future issues. But that auction site has windshield protection...just do a search for jeep jk diamond plate and you should find something that looks like the above picture for a JK. He also sells his stuff in black. It is metal with double sided tape, but I am sure some of you garage monkeys could figure out how to more permanently attach them. I have his guards for the sides of the 4 door JK if you are wondering how I know about this seller. They will look good and be a little more functional that decoration once I finally get my hands on some rockrails/ steps. And no I am not the seller, just a satisfied customer.

It's okay if you just come out and say ebay. You're just not allowed to post direct links (I.E. links you can click) on the site!

I just checked out that item on ebay. I'm not sure that's what he's looking for .

I think they want a solution that will cover the entire lower edge of the windshield. Right?

In Virginia, you can only tint the side windows to a certain %, and the front windshield cannot be tinted. I think the Line X would be too dark. Besides, isn't it just too hard to see through?

Just found this on eBay: http:// cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160200096408

If you scroll down and select the 2nd picture on the right there is a picture of a Jeep with a black diamond plate guard that is a little less obvious.

Hope this helps
