LS Swap
With the extra weight our equipped Jeeps typically have over the nose...I'll take the ~100lb savings an aluminum LS engine offers. If you're running coil overs and have the ability to change springs and adjust the ride accordingly, I guess it wouldn't be as big of a deal. With a traditional coil/shock combo I would personally spend the extra $ on an aluminum LS not an LQ.
I am currently doing the same thing. I purchased the kit from Robbie. ($6443.00). Found a nice used LC9, the all aluminum 5.3 and a 6L80 for $3500.00. The adapters for my atlas are &427.00. Once all hat gets here the shop will be doing the install of that and my PR60/80 and the EVO double throw down. They figure it will take roughly 60 hours for all of it.

Great choice on the LS conversion.
I retired last year and my gift to myself was a complete LS3/6L80 Conversion on my Jeep. The motech kit is still the best I have seen. Having been at Motech, I can see why someone may get a delayed response from Robbie. The guy is busy with Jeeps at his shop. However, anytime I have had a question or concern about something, Robbie has gone above an beyond in taking care of me.
Everytime you start your jeep, hear the motor, and feel the power, you will have a permanent grin on your face. If you drive your jeep to the trails you will notice the jeep can drive down the freeway better, pass traffic if needed, cruise at substantially lower RPM, and get decent gas mileage.
I have now logged over 17,000 trouble free miles on my LS3. This is the best conversion there is.

There are a lot of new LS swap conversion kits and home builder parts about to be on the market. The LS JK game is constantly evolving and is getting more streamlined.
