Modifying front seat brackets!
I am 6'-5" and while I am pretty comfortable in the drivers seat my head is only about 1" away from the roll bar. In the unlikely event that I am rear ended I am afraid I may end up with another dent in my skull. I have searched and found some big boy brackets but the do not appear to lower the seat any just move it back. I would like to do both, lower about 1-2" and back 1-2". With the ability to raise our seats I'm surprised they didn't start with a lower mounting position. Are there any solutions out ther or has someone else done this? I may be on my own and have to make my own brackets.
Thanks for any help you may provide!

I haven't on my jk but a yj we just did wich is in my build thread we lowered the seats and made all new seat mounts. It gave him alot more room as he was a bigger guy also. He did have 5 point harnesses that we installed to the cage though also. Im sure you could make it work somehow, but the jks tub is and odd shape on the front inside bolt locations.

He's the low down on this. It is not advised to modify the seat in any way. Manufacturers spend 100's of thousands if not millions getting seats right so they don't break away and make u a flying projectile. Not saying it can't be done and ne done better than OEM it's just not a common practice. I feel you though as I'm 6'4" and carry most of my height from the waist up and it is my biggest complaint as well. Truth be told I've bounced around alot offroad and was recently side swiped and it has never been an issue
I think the most complete thread I remember reading is this one. If you haven't come across it yet it might be worth a read:
