Which auto you looking at? The stock 4 speed or something else? Stock is not the best tranny available but it would work with a lot of ECU programming and the proper wiring harness. IMO you are better off to sell the manual and buy an auto in similar condition.

Selling my current JKUR isn't really an option as it was a gift and has some emotional attachment. Im looking into a swap with a factory transmission unless there are other options. I've read that it has been done and was fairly easy but cannot find an actual build thread with details.

Are you wanting to swap for driveability reasons? I find the gen 1 JKs to be more enjoyable with the manual. The stock auto for those years just isn't great..

Having done the reverse on an XJ I understand the basics of it. You would need to do the following:
1. Replace the PCM2. Obtain the TCM3. Pretty sure you'd need a new harness in the engine bay4. Need the transmission wiring harness

You could just dump the clutch and stick with the pedals that you have
5. Need to get console inserts6. Get all the cables and bracketry to get the lever working.

I will have to say that it's easier going auto to manual then the reverse.

Just wondering why you want to replace the 6 spd with an AX15? The AX 1st gear ratio is 3.86:1 which means you lose some crawl speed. Unless you you buy the 4.3:1 1st gear set from Pirate 4x4. Your 6 speed is 4.46:1. Is your existing manual broken?
