Default Manual - Auto tranny swap?

Has anyone succesfully made the swap from a manual to a auto? Been considering doing it but the drivetrain guy at my local dealer swears up and down that it can't be done due the TIPM having to be swapped as well

anything is possible. but like the shop said other things have to be replaced and programmed. its seriously cheaper to sell it and buy an auto.

It can definitely be done, but not worth the trouble/expense IMO. They put 5.7l swaps in JKs all the time with both manuals and automatics.

Probably cheaper to trade/sell your auto JK and purchase a manual JK.

It sure would be nice to have that auto and then bolt the RubiCrawler on to help out my 4:1 t-case. Crawling out here in AZ would be cake

It's been done since september 2010, but I keep getting PM's about it and I just wanted to let everyone know it's possible and easy to do. It took me about a year to get the balls to do it, then I found a smokin deal on a auto tranny, so I couldn't pass it up. Total cost was $1800. I sold the manual tranny for $600 and im still getting rid of bits and pieces here and there. Still cheaper than trading in my jeep and losing money on my long arm kit and other permanent mods.

That really isn't bad for a tranny swap. But I'm assuming that going from an auto to a manual would be much more costly. Anyone know for sure? I'd love to have a manual in my JKU
