Default MBRP OFF Road exhaust

so i was undecided on which exhaust to get . MBRP Off road or the Dynomax VT for my 2011 JKU. i had the dynomax ultra flo on before. i just removed my stock muffler, cut my stock pipe under the body and installed my Ultra Flo muffler in. it sounded great, nice low deep rumble but it droned! droned! let off the throttle and brrrrr buuu brrrr buuuu. i also lost mpg overnight ( went from 11L/100km to about 12-12.5L/100km ). my throttle was also feeling mushy too. seems like a bit more effort to get up and go around town. highway driving was lagging too. 1+ ultra flo welded looks and feels really tough though! it could withstand a beating I'm sure.

after much debate and talking with both manufacturers MBRP came out on top for me. a muffler designed and tested for the jeep displacement and a pretty cool off road look. i was going to get the cheaper aluminized version but my local parts guy and JK FORUM members convinced me to go with the SS version. so i dipped into my pocket and paid the extra 110 bucks for the SS version. opening the box the system looks awesome! love the slashed tip!!

install was super simple for me, having removed the stock exhaust last spring. removed the transfer case skid, clamp at the front y pipe and 2 rubber hangers. the exhaust went in super easy, pipe by pipe. its very straightforward and simple. one complaint and only one! the OEM exhaust hangers on the stock exhaust are much nicer then the MBRP hangers. but they still fit and hold nicely. no biggie in my books. advice is to keep the clamps loose until you get all the pipes on so you can adjust for clearance issues. for me it was my e-brake cable and rear sway bar. ( i have 1 inch drop brackets from my old lift ). but it still fit fine with almost 1 inch clearance from the bar.

first drive: i removed my - battery terminal while installing ( not sure if it important ). guys...... remember to put it back on lol. for about 4-5 secs my heart raced. so i fired it up, let her idle and it sounds almost identical to my dynomax. but now with my tailpipe exiting the rear and not by my rear axle the jeep seems quieter in the cab. i let her idle for about 4-5mins and went for a quick drive. came back, checked my clamps and hangers. all good. so i took her for a final drive around town, hit up Mcdonalds and onto the highway. when i left my garage i noticed right away the bottom get up and go was improved. nothing to piss your pants about, but noticeable. also just cruising around town it felt more responsive. my jeep before almost felt like a had to spool a small turbo at a stop sign. maybe not that extreme lol. on the highway i only noticed some improvement merging onto the highway but at highway speeds it for the most part felt the same. no mpg numbers yet. i can post tomorrow after work. sound is like i said not much different and isn't any louder. i would never describe it as ricey at all. ( i had a mazda3 with full exhaust in 2007. headers, no cats and 2.5 inch exhaust. yes that was rice. also had a gt35r big turbo mazdaspeed3 in 08-10. ...although that sounded badass ) . anyways, the muffler is a different tone, but not far off from before. one last thing, at highway speed , roughly 100km/h it was almost whisper quiet! very nice! overall so far, I'm happy with it and I'm hoping to get some mpg back. if not , I'm having fun playing around with my JEEP!

after driving to work and back , i dropped almost 1L/100km since yesterday! i was hovering around 15L/100km on my computer. now I'm 14.2L/100km in just one day! weather is pretty much identical. maybe 1 or 2 degrees warmer today. if i can get into the 13's with 35 inch tires, that would be pretty cool.

Not sure if it's a back pressure thing, or just laying in to the throttle a bit more, but I lost 1-2mpg with a relocated muffler. I have been watching my right foot a bit and I think it's more driver than exhaust, but things were so quiet before I didn't know when the jeep was struggling.
