I'm looking for a minimalist rear to match the front. Any suggestions on what would look good?

I regret doing the JCR Dagger. I love the bumper, but still not good with cutting off the rear cross member. I wish I did the EVO set up. It just wasn't available then.......

 

Yup! X's 2! I'm running the EVO's and love 'em.

 

Olympic rear frame cover. VERY easy to install yourself, less weight than hollow plastic stock rear, and a small fraction of the cost of most

 

VKS also has the EVO style D ring and Cover plate and is a lot cheaper. just sayin.

Isn't it similar to the Poison Spyder BFH? That's what I run and I've been extremely happy with it. I love the departure angle! There's a certain spot where I normally go wheeling here locally where almost everyone comes down fairly hard on their rear bumper on a descent. I have yet to make contact in that spot. The original version that I have is obviously minus a hitch, but I never intended to tow aything with the JK anyway. So it's never been an issue. It's not exactly D-rings in the ends of the frame, but still pretty minimalistic. And cutting the crossmember wasn't an issue for me. The bumper pretty well takes it's place and it's much stronger.

 

Most bumpers I've seen with a smaller than stock footprint will require you either remove or trim the rear crossmember. I went with the Crawler Conceptz stubby bumper and love it. I completely removed the cross member but if you aren't satisfied with how securely it bolts in then you could just weld it on instead.

 

What kind of modifications are required to install the evo i.e. cutting/drilling.

 

You actually don't need to do any cutting if you prefer not to, but it looks much cleaner if you cut about an inch off frame horns. I love the setup, I can post up pics later
