Default Mirror Relocation Kit Pros vs. Cons

In the state of Florida you are required to have at least one mirror to remove your doors. So I was looking for some feedback from those that have used the rugged ridge relocation kit from the door to the A post. Let me know guys before I go and buy them. Thanks

* sorry guys posted this in the wrong spot my bad still learning this forum

Same here in WA... I went to a bike shop and bought a mirror off a Harley... Fits perfectly on the upper hinge with an acorn nut holding it in place... No vibration easy to take on and off and only coast about 10dollars

right on, i was looking at that kit but i read that the passenger side mirror will be partially blocked when the doors are on. and i was wondering if the door will hit the mirror when you open the door? just dont want to waste $$ on crap

I was gonna get a HD mirror but I found a pair of relo brackets in for sale section for same price...I'm gonna put a snorkel on so I only needed drivers side...during the doorless season I'm just gonna leave it on relo bracket so I don't have to mess with it...ive also heard passenger mirror is difficult to use on relo bracket...

RR Relocation brackets work great with the doors off. But if you use the mirrors relocated and stick the doors back on, you'll barely have 1/2" of the passenger mirror visible to you. After playing around with many different options, here's my sub $30.00 fix:

However, since I'd already bought the RR relocation kit, I am using the discs that they came with to cover up the stock mounting location. These CJ style mirrors were around $12.95 each on Amazon with free shipping. Works great, but has some vibration and whistle - just like the Lange ones would.

coondog33- let us know how you like them when you get you one on.

interceptor- thats a good fix, i like the creativity. did you have to modify anything to make them fit? bracket or hardware?

Nope. Didn't have to modify anything. The brackets are designed for a TJ that has the bolt holes a little closer, so it takes some playing around to get them seated on, and then, it goes on smoothly. The brackets you see in the pic came with the kit, and they'll bend inward a little when you tighten it down - if you don't like that pinched look, you can always get a slightly longer bolt and a few washers to straighten them out - this way, I don't have to mess with doors on/off. I have good visibility either way and the door does not hit the mirror on either side. Plus, for $12.95, I can afford to break a few of those on the trail before I catch up to the $70+ for a stock mirror

That is a nice custom mod! I used to have a TJ that I bought a relocation kit for and it def sucked. Like stated, the pass mirror was barely visible. I guess for me I def find myself with doors on alot more than doors off. Honestly with my JK taking the doors off takes more time than screwing a nut on to hold my mirror in place. I have also seen people use convex mirrors on their heating/AC vents... Just turned sideways. Probably not legal, but you could talk your way out of a ticket with them.

I just got the kit and I've been pounding and pulling on my mirrors to get theses suckers out and no dice yet. Tomorrow I'm going to risk it and hit it with a punch harder and hope for the best. But after looking at some of the other mirror ideas in the threads, I wish I just would have got some that I just could drop in the door hinges when I take it off

Thanks. I'm cheap and the $100 or so it'd cost for the Lange mirrors wasn't going to happen. This is simple, cheap and effective.

I was looking for an option to keep from doing the mirror swap outs altogether - and this works. Have good visibility with doors on and I can turn the mirrors in when the doors come off so it's not hanging all the way out there on the trail - or just fold them in.
