Default Mirror Relocator Kit

So...I went to install the mirror relocators the other day. While following the directions, I tried to remove the OEM mirror from its OEM mounting bracket. It was a no-go. The directions said that after removing the bolt, one would have to work it side-to-side. As much as I do this, it seems as though the mirror and the mounting piece is a single unit. Does any one know or can offer any suggestions, other that bashing it with a hammer? Thanks

It's in there snug. I had to stand on a ladder while twisting & pulling up on it.

Spray some penetrating lubricant into the socket from on top. Let is sit for maybe 5 minutes. Start the screw into the threads on the mirror head so there is a gap between the bottom of the screw head and the bottom of the mirror arm. tap the screw head with a hammer or mallet. It worked like a charm for me. Also once the mirror head is out, spray it with some teflon or white lithium grease to keep if from seizing in the future.

I threaded the bolt back in and gave it a few good whacks with the trusty rubber hammer. Its in there really good.

I did the same thing with mine. It wasn't until I sprayed penetrating lubricant into the socket that I got any results. After that it popped out easily.

Not yet...It was pretty cold and rainy most of the day. Just before sunset I put the penetrating oil on it, gave it 2-3 "taps". No love, thinking about using a different type of hammer...maybe a Jack-hammer

What year Jeep do you have? I had a set of relocation brackets. Loved them. But I cannot use them on my 2011 Shara Unlimited. My mirrors have an electric defrost. So I am assuming they are hard wired. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to use my old brackets again...
