What's the point of this mod. To me the door handle is now weaker.

It does not affect the structure of the door handle as long as you drill correctly.

How hard are you grabbing your door handle bro? Haha. It's a to each his own thing. But you're not weakening your door handle. U push a button and those doors fly open anyways.

Would it work to slide a piece of wood or plastic behind the handle rather than your hand and spoon? What about just using a drill stop?
