More 37's Questions
So I have a 2013 JKUS and have been reading and reading on here. At first I was going to do a small lift with 35's but the more I read I know I'm gonna want 37's. It will be a weekend driver and play in the mud for the most part, so not much crawling. What 3.5" or 4" lift does everyone recommend? And will the lift come with everything i need? I don't mind spending more for a good lift, but don't want to go crazy on the lift if I don't need to. Also, what else is a must to run 37's. I have 3:73's right now. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Ok. I had a 08 with 37s on a 2.5" BB with trimmed stock fender flares. Well its really up to you on how you want your Jeep to look. I love the BIG TIRES ON SMALL LIFT LCOG. But generally a taller lift will require more items =$
Will I have to cut my fenders? I see a lot about gussets? Do I need those? I'm not sure what they even are. What about driveshafts and re-gearing? I'm not new at all to lifts...but definitely a newbie to Jeeps. I had a 2011 with BB and 35's on stock wheels but that's as far as I went.
You shouldn't do 37's on a D30. Even 35's is pushing it, even with light wheeling. I did a front axle swap on mine to accommodate 35's and because I wanted a front locker. I bought a Rubi D44 front.
If you want to do 37's right, you will want an axle swap in the front first. You will also need to re-gear, will need to replace your rear tire carrier, drag link flip, will need a new front driveshaft (maybe rear too at 3.5"+).
For 3.5", checkout the Rock Krawler lifts. Either the X Factor or Max travel.

You might need to cut your fenders or get flats. Will also need to replace your front bumper with a stubby or hack off the ends. I have the RK MT 2.5" and hacked off the ends of the bumper and had to get flat fenders. A friend of mine has the 3.5" X factor and 35's. He doesn't have rubbing with the fenders, but does rub the front bumper.

As I mentioned, even 35's on the D30 is pushing it if you wheel it. Probably find for street driving though. The guy that bought my D30 did a sleeve, gusset and truss. Pretty beefy now. As most will tell you though, putting any money into a D30 is a waste.
Drag link connects to the tie rod in the front and assists with steering. Once you go over 2.5", it will need to be addressed. Search for 'drag link flip' and 'high steer' kits.
If I didn't have a wife that kept me from making bad financial decisions, I probably would've traded in my Sport for a Rubi at about 6000 miles...
First off there are tons of guys running 37s on a dana 30. Is it ideal, no, can it be done, hell yeah. Recommending that you should get a rubi to get the factory 44 to run 37s, no. Other than the stronger ring and pinion its tubes and c's are the same strenth as a 30.
As for your question about lifts. I run the Trailmaster 4.5" kit. It was a complete kit, needed nothing extra. It had adjustable tracbar up front, all 8 adjustable control arms, brakelines, driveshafts, quick disconnects up front. It works great, rides good on road and flexes/performs well offroad. I have over 40K on mine...with 37s and no problems for my dana 30 front axle. I recently swapped the shocks that come with the kit for bilsteins which was a nice upgrade. I will say my front axle has heavy duty poly performance ball joints and C gussets, that is it.
