I was looking at the winchdepot.com site and saw that there were two m8000 winches with the only difference being the fairlead. The more expensive one had a hawse as opposed to the roller fairlead. What is the difference and worth the price difference of $140? Sorry, new to purchasing winches. Thanks.

A hawse fairlead is used with synthetic rope whereas a roller fairlead is used with the wire rope.

$140 for a hawse fairlead seems a bit pricey to me.

*EDIT*

Yea, that's a little on the high side.

You may also want to look ay a Supercinch EPi9000. I have seen it at winchline dot com for $599.00. One of our vendors here has it listed with synthetic line, hawse fairlead and snatch block for $749 + shipping.

I have the Superwinch EPi9000 lb. and it has been flawless for over 40 pulls counting trees and as well as vehicles. It was $620 with shipping and that included a 20,000 lb snatch block. Over the years I had problems with Warns and tried the Superwinch this time and it has been flawless.

What kind of problems have you had with Warns? I don't know if I've read before of anyone having problems.
