Dont need to buy a kit. A piece of angle iron, 2 4" pcs of 1/2" allthread, & 4 1/2 nuts are all you need to mount across the roll bar. Tap the 2 holes in the roll cage and mount it up high. The tension of the jack keeps it from moving. Its high enough to be out of the way, but you can reach easily. This is probably my cheapest & easiest mod.

I only see one piece of angle iron on the base. I'd like to try this one! At all possible I like to do things my own way. This is awesome!

Yeah a hi lift secured by velcro on top of everyone's heads does not sound very good.

Also, i've got this same dilemma for my 2011 2door. It is currently on the hood but it blocks the sprayers and is in the way of fog-lights. Rear bumper not an option with my Smittybilt setup. Can you mount it atop the rear roll bar in a 2 door like a 4 door? I know the rear is shaped differently...

If you have pics that would help too.
Thank you in advance.
Is theft really a major concern? I put mine on the back hinges with a Rugged Ridge mount, secured with a small bike cable and lock. Not 100% theft-proof but it'll deter the opportunists. The biggest selling point for me was that it was out of the way, didn't interfere with switching between soft and hard top, and was easy to access.

Hold you jack up there and see if it fits. The jack setup from jeep swag is the same height as the roll bar. Maybe a little lower.

I ended up putting it under my back seat and using Velcro to secure it to the vertical seat supports. Works great and people can't steal it and it cost me about 5 bucks of Velcro.
