Muffler noise chart...
Okay. I am deaf and would like to get an exhaust for my future JK.
My dad has a Rubicon 4 door with the Gibson SS split rear exhaust. I love the volume and how it vibrates the floor (resonance). I just don't like the high pitched ricer tone.
I am looking for a bolt on system that I can FEEL inside the cab of a 2 door JK.
Lets say stock is rated 1 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Gibson would be a 9.
What would MBRP stock exit system be like? Dynomax split rear? Gibson single rear? Remember, I want to be able to FEEL the resonance, so I can determine my shift points. I don't care about HEARING it.
My old 95 cherokee ran 4.7L stroker I6 with borla headers with a flowmaster 40 bolted to that with a dump turndown that exited before my driveshaft begun. My silver 2001 Cherokee had a dynomax ultraflow with no tailpipe in place of the stock exhaust. My WRX had a full catless turboback exhaust with a melon shooter (ONE MEAN non-rice sounding exhaust!!!) So now you know how loud I like my systems.
Dad's gibson provides the perfect resonance and drone I like, just with a crappy tone. Any suggestions? I do not want a hackjob exhaust system.

I did listen to those clips many many times. The problem is, they all sound nice. I can tell their tones are awesome. However, tones will not help me when I am inside with the windows closed and a hard top. How would i know how they feel? That's why I'm asking for those who own the systems.
I have talked a bit with Steve from MBRP. Just wanted to see what you other guys say....
(plus I have searched this forum inside and out, left and right, top to bottom. :p)

Don't you think exhaust note is a bit like paint color? I have the MBRP (since May) and it sounds great in my opinion. I like it so much that I have their rock rails and light bar and am eagerly awaiting release of their front bumpers. With the soft top it is actually a little loud for me but with the hard top on it's perfect.
On your scale (stock=1) MBRP= 4-5

The flowmaster 40 has a great deep tone to it, after running it now for roughly 15,000 miles, it still looks like new and it has settled into a nice even tone. Didn't check any of the sound clips, and I'm sure they all sound great, but if you want a cheap and easy solution that has a nice rumble to it, thats what I would get. Hell, that is what I got!

I've had flowmasters on my old cherokees. Only problem with them is once you put a pipe on the muffler outlet, it goes quiet. I've had 40 series original and delta both. I ran them both without any pipes on it to keep the tone and rumble. Oh and also, here in the heavily salted area of WNY - the flowmaster lasts about a year before rusting through.
How would a gibson single exit sound compared to the MBRP?

The flowmaster numbers do not match the sound levels. It is just the style and application of the muffler. The 40 series original flow on my 4.0L I6 had a faint rumble at idle, whereas on my 4.7L cammed stroker I6, it sounded like a diesel truck with stacks at harley bass levels.
My best bet is to look at flowmaster's site and draw a conclusion there. The 40 series delta flow will give you a nice roar outside while keeping resonance to a minimum.
I'm going the opposite way, I WANT resonance. For you (JEEP THRILLS) from what I see you want, a 50 series delta flow (or SUV) kit would be perfect for you.
