Default My Project-JK is started!

Hello -

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I have to say that this is absolutely the most valuable web site I've found for info regarding the JK. It's awesome!

So, I bought my '07 JK back in October of '06, right when the new model came out. I knew right away I had a keeper, it's so much more advanced than my old Jeep. I got the dual top option, so up here in Wisconsin, the three piece hard top comes off in April and I just took the soft top off two days ago. I'll just run the front two pieces off of the hard top the rest of summer, with no doors either.

I decided to do the Lift\Wheels thing and started searching. That's how I found this forum and the project has gone great so far.

I bought the Rough Country 2 1/2" lift based on what I read and I was not disappointed. I installed the kit this morning and everything went perfect. I didn't even have to adjust the drag link. It looks like a robust kit, with metal spacers.

Coming in next week, my wheel\tire package. 16" Pro-Comp Series 7028 in black and 33" Mickey Thompson ATZ. Can't wait to bolt them on and get it in for the alignment.

Next, I believe I'll look under the hood for some upgrade opportunities.

I really enjoyed reading all the information here so far and I'll be hanging around for a good long time as I continue my project.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site, glad you are enjoying it.

You shouldn't need to do an alignment. Just recenter you steering wheel and you are good to go.

No kidding? That would save me $80 bucks, but the tires are expensive, ya know?

I didn't have to re-center the steering wheel. When I was done, I checked it and it was perfect. Then I drove it and got no computer errors. So you're saying it's good to go? Man, those new tires are $250 each!

Thanks for the reply!

Welcome, I cant wait to see some pics when you get the new wheels and meats on. I like the RC kit also and I also will be getting MT ATZs as well. I just need to decide on 33s or 35s. When you post your pics it will help. Good luck!

I'll definitely post some pictures after the wheels and tires are done. A local shop is getting them together for me, Kerstners 4wd in Appleton.

I struggled with the same decision on 33s or 35s. I was thinking that the 35s would fill too much of the wheel well with a 2 1/2" lift, but it's definitely a personal choice!
