Default My tire sidewall got a scratch, please take a look at it!

Too bad my front right tire got a scratch on it, maybe it was caused by some sharp corners, however
please take a look at the scratch, and see if it is serious. My tire is the Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar, and size is 37X12.5R17. In fact, it is brand new tire.

Nothing to worry about if you ask me. If thats a Kevlar you still have about 1/2-3/4" of rubber to go through before you have a problem. I know my Km2s look much worse than that and I don't bat an eye. KM2s and Kevlars are no slouch on sidewall thickness.

What ever you do don't drive on that thing!!! I have never in my life of rock crawling seen that much damage on a tire. I bet you ran over a teenager with a lip ring.

Thats nothing, keep on rollin!!

Thanks for the replies! By the way, do you know how thick is the Kevlar's sidewall? Someone told me it was like only 8mm thick?
However, from the tire's sidewall informations, it listed that the sidewall has 2-ply polyester and 1-ply
aramid. What is aramid anyway, where is Kevlar?

I felt them when I was figuring if i wanted K2s or kevlars, I'd say they're close to 3/4" at the widest point. The kevlar is in the sidewall..I doubt you will find a 'spec' listed somewhere on sidewall thickness.

they're thick and strong enough that a scratch like this won't make a difference that's for sure.

Just stick a band-aid on it...just a minor flesh wound.....you won't have an issue!

FYI: Kevlar is a brand name, much like Kleenex.

"Kevlar" is a type of aramid fabric developed and trademarked by Dupont.

The 1 layer of aramid in the tire is probably the Dupont Kevlar product, and the name is licensed to Goodyear for marketing purposes.
