Default Is it necessary to remove front grill to replace stock bumper?

Thinking of possibly replacing my stock bumper with the Mopar off-road bumper w/ NO winch (just like the look of it and don't need a winch)- I notice the instructions say that you need to 1st remove the grill (and plastic part where a winch would go) but I don't see the reason if you can get to the bumper bolts from under (after removing the air dam, of course)- any thoughts/advice?

X2, It only takes about a minute to take off and makes a bumper/winch install much easier

I just put on Rugged Ridge stubby on and no need at all to pull the grill.

The hardest part is getting those plastic screws out.

Someone said to have a drill to drill out the plastic screws (that don't unscrew), I gave up in frustration and used a crow bar, pooped them right off or though!
