Dropped jeep off this morning at the stealership to get the gas tank recall fix. Just got a call from the service guy saying it would be an extra $100 to install new tank parts because of my aftermarket lift. He told me the extra charge was due to the rear track bar being in the way and it would have to be removed. My question is, is it possible to drive the jeep without the rear trackbar? I assume the answer is no. My other option would be to bring my tools to the dealership and remove it in their parking lot. Any ideas? I obviously don't think it's worth paying $100 dollars to have them do it.

No you can't drive without the trackbar. Removing it in the parking lot might be ok. The real question is, they are going to charge $100 to remove a bolt?

Yep. I asked the service guy the same thing. I thought he was joking when he told the $100 charge over the phone. Sadly he wasn't. It's obvious that the dealership wants to make some money on an otherwise free service to replace defective gas tank. I'm still fuming over this.

I would be tempted to tell the dealer to just give me the new tank and I'll install it my self instead of paying him $100 to remove one bolt.

When he said remove. I'm assuming he would remove it to install the new tank. Te replace it? Still for $100 just bust it out yourself
