Typical Jeep dealership moves. I have never been so dissatisfied in my life with the customer service issues with Jeeps. I love my JK, but have to admit I have never fought so much for warranty work as I have with these. Good luck with your gas tank recall.

Talk to the Service Manager. That is BS. They should not charge you an extra dime because of an aftermarket item since the aftermarket item is not related to the root cause of the gas tank issue. MOPAR is really usually aftermarket friendly since it helps drives their sales. Sounds like this dealer is triing to squeeze some extra cash out of you.

Ok, so it turns out that the $100 is not for taking off track bar but for taking off a control arm bracket. These are the brackets that needed to be installed for the long arm lift I have. The bracket looks like this:

They need to remove the bracket in order to remove the gas tank skid and the tank itself. I'm currently in negotiation with the shop and waiting for a call back from their service manager. I still cannot believe they want to charge me $100 to remove this. What do you guys think?

Well, if they are charging you, it should be for the additional time it takes due to your aftermarket parts. I ran into the same issue when I had my tank replaced. They had to remove all my Rock Hard skids and charged me too. I was very annoyed since it is Chrysler's fault that the tank needed to be replaced in the first place. I think with so many recalls and Jeep losing money with every one, they are probably being told to get paid for whatever they can.

The dealerships are terrible. I had so many issues when I have them do warranty service. It's sad really.

Write them a check for the amount minus the $100. Write "Paid in Full" on the comment line. When they cash the check this signifies they agree to the amount on the check being the total amount of money they owe you. This will piss them off royally. They will harass you for the $100 endless but chances are they probably won't take you to court over it.

Not a bad idea except the cost of tank replace is covered under the recall so they're not charging for that. After several calls and going back and forth, I was able to get them to split the $100 cost with me. I argued that if they'd had the replacement tank in when I brought the jeep in a month and a half ago, this wouldn't be an issue as I just had the lift put on weeks ago. It's not my fault that Chrysler didn't have the replacement part in stock. Looks like I'll be shelling out $50 to have the tank replaced. It's not ideal but at least it's tolerable. They flat out refused my offer to go into the shop and take the bolts off myself. It wouldn't be practical to take bracket off in the parking lot because it attaches both control arms.

At least they came down a little for you. I swear, dealership service departments make the same dollars per hour as a doctor or a lawyer, it's unreal.
