When you have some time, browse through the FAQ's.

That will give you some background on what size lift you'll want for 35's, what backspace you'll need on the new wheels (or spacers, if you plan on keeping stock wheels), etc.
Also check the Write-ups area

for step by step install guides for a variety of lifts (assuming you'll be installing yourself?), etc.
Lots of good info to get you pointed in the right direction. And it will bring up many more questions for you to ask...

I haven't seen any posts concerning lifts rusting, but there have been a few for bumpers with weak powdercoating. (I don't recall the names of the companies, unfortunately)
You might try posting in the Staging Area for whichever part of Canada you're in. That should get you some feedback from people in your neck of the woods.

Olympic front and rear bumbers w/tire carrier
Everything I have read in the past has reported that Olympic stuff rusts. Since you live in Chicagoland, you should seek the bumpers and tire carriers that have the best reputation for good powdercoating and minimal rust.

i did a 3.5" suspension lift and 35"s. they rubbed the stock bumper a smidge when turning hard in reverse. i don't know how a 2.5" lift would do. i guess if you have less than a 12.5" width you'd be o.k.
Nothing under the jeep will be untouched by rust after the first winter. I just rattle can every thing all the time. I don't think the lift will matter one way or the other, well if you're going to let the rust just sit there, then it will be more noticeable.
