My local hardware guy said I'd never get the bolts off using the red stuff. My mechanic assured me it's no problem with a professional impact wrench that goes up to 250 ft lbs or so. I'll find out how hard it is next week on my wheel spacers...

I use it religously. Depending on the application if I know it is a part that could bring some type of catastrophic failure I will use the red (HD Strength) if it is something that could get loose but not cause anydamage I use the blue(Medium Strength). If it is for smaller things like screws for securing small items or what not I use the green (Light Strength). I have never had to use a torch to remove a bolt after using any of the loctites mentioned. I work for a contractor over seas for the military and use the red all the time when I have it and prefer it on any bolt that I touch. Just ensure you have the right tool for the job if you remove anything that has had loctite on it to prevent the bolt head from rounding out. If it is a metric bolt use a metric wrench if its a standard bolt or SAE use the standard or SAE wrench that fits snugly.. Using common sense will get you where you wanna go without the headache...

I won't use it.
Anyway it's easy to check the bolt tension each 6 months...

Thanks

If you don't want to use loctite, you can take a marker and draw a line across the bolt and the nut. This will show you if the nut is moving at all. If you tighten your bolts with the specified torque settings you shouldn't have any problems.

It depends on what type of Locktite you use as to whether you may need heat for removal. The red locktite is tha mojo. I've seen it remove threads from bolts on disassembly. I always ask myself one question when considering Locktite. "AM I ever going to take this apart?" If the answer is no, I use red. If it's even a maybe, I use blue.

I also use it religiously and only the red. I have never lost threads or needed heat to remove anything I've glued on with it. The only time I use an impact is to save me some time and when I do I always break the fastener loose by hand first. I've heard the argument that Mopar doesn't use it so why should we? Well.... first off, the engineers aren't driving my Jeep and secondly it costs them money. I like the peace of mind it offers.

Mopar does use it and so do I. When I removed my seat belt bolts they were covered in blue loctite. When I installed my BL and my winch I used Blue Loctite. It just gives you peace of mind.
