need a lift?
Hello everyone, I too am trying to decide on a lift.
I have a white 07 X, automatic
Either a 2” or a 4”????
I am planning on running 35’s so I don’t have to carve out the fender well to fit the larger tires.
I know the 2” would be easier and wouldn’t need any major drive line work right away.
With the 4” lift will need new drive shafts… How hard is it to install these, would I need a mechanic to do this fro me?
Either lift I am thinking of having a grease monkey throw in 5.13 gears. Not too comfortable doing this kind of work myself.
I guess what I’m trying to figure out is… Will the 2 inch be enough to get me in and out of trouble or would I be better off with the 4 inch?
What I have been looking at: 2”OME, 2.5” TeraFlex, 3” Full Traction , 4” TeraFlex, 4”Superlift ….. with all these choices I feel like I’m going to have a brain aneurism…
This rig will get some abuse running though the mountains in New Mexico and Colorado as well as rock trails in Utah and Arizona. It is not a DD but it will get some cruising time every now and then.
thanks for the help, see ya on the trail

If cost is no issue and you are going to be on some serious rocks spend the extra $$$ and get a 4". I am up about 4 inches and so far no problem with driveshafts - although I do expect to break one very soon.
I started off with a 3" Rancho and after putting the extra weight from armor and bumpers/winch and such, it sagged. I replaced it with Rubicon Express front springs and spacers.
I would highly recommend the gears you mentioned and definitely have a good shop do those for you. Even if you are handy with tools and mechanics it is a good idea to have these done for you. The measurements must be very precise and if you are not experienced, then don't try it.
