Ditto on the lift choice. Be prepared to make mistakes and to have to readjust things to get the ride the way you want it. All the answers are on this site! It isn't like changing your own oil, but is really not more difficult than the instructions show. Just one step at a time. You will feel so much cooler driving and talking about your Jeep if you do the work yourself!

I actually wouldn't recommend doing it alone if its your first project of this kind, like everyone else said it's good to have extra hands/brains on board. That being said try and find someone with experience, too. Just buy extra jack stands, no way its going anywhere with two stands. I usually lower the jeep with the jack onto the stands but then leave the jack in place once its resting on the stands as a backup. Chock the tires that are on the ground. You can put it in 4-Low and leave it in gear for extra safety. Also, loosen but don't remove all the nuts and bolts for whichever end your doing before you jack it up, that way your not having to torq anything with it in the air. Goodluck

There are plenty of people on here who would be willing to give you a hand doing this. Go to the Staging Area for the locale and offer to host a mod party and see what kind of results you get....you might be amazed at the response.
