New Gears

So I lifted my jeep 4" and put 35" tires on it. I am getting the superchips flashpaq to reprogram my speedo and other adjustments. Should I put a new gearing in it?? If so what gearing? I mostly use my jeep as a daily driver but do some off roading at places near my house but nothing to serious. Any ideas?

2 or 4 door, auto or 6 speed?

NH-JK Dec 8, 2010 12:49 PM

Auto 5:13 auto rubicon 5:38

6 speed Id go 4:88 since it's a daily driver...

Tons of threads on this do a quick re-gear search. Good luck

You go off-roading in your car? Why not just use the JK? :bleh:

I think you would be happy with 5.13 gears , if you plan to go to 37s or wheel alot do 5.38

Auto: 5.13s is BEST. Do you drive on the highway often? If so then consider 4.88. That's what I'm having installed now

Open the faq's linked above and start plugging numbers into the chart.

5.13's are as low as you can go with your front D30.
(if you have any plans of swapping to a front D44, then wait and go with 5.38's)

Also, see page 3 here for some good info from planman that may help...

There is quite a bit of evidence that this is incorrect. Higher rpm's will let you stay in OD without downshifting, which raises rpm's a lot higher, which reduces mpg's...

You are right, but it all depends on how you drive. I'm no gear expert, this is just what I was told. Excuse me if I'm completely wrong LOL :yup:

Because of you D30 up front you can't go 5:38's so 5:13's it should be.
