Default New jeeper

Hey guys, thought I would introduce myself and my jeep. Just got a 2010 JKU. I had an XJ before but didn't do much to it. This will be my DD so I would expect any crazy build threads but I do like to do some stuff to make it last. So far I've done a 2.5 inch teraflex kit with 35s, hood mount hi lift and barricade rear bumper with tire carrier.

A couple pics, fresh to first time topless and doors off, new tires and carrier.

Just curious what you guys would recommend for upgrading next. The off roading I will be doing is pretty mild but would like to be prepared for some harder stuff. I'm thinking about LCA to adjust caster to normal and maybe a new tie rod and maybe drag link. But if you guys have any other suggestions I'm open to suggestions

Also probably looking into the ace stinger stubby.

Drive your local trails a few times to get an idea of what might be useful. Winch? Skids? Lights?

Adj arms (or brackets) are generally a good call to correct the low caster after a lift. But it's individual opinion, some people don't mind it.

Are your draglink and tie rod bent? Joints damaged? If not, you might keep them until there is a reason to replace, and put that money toward something else.

Definitely a winch is on my list, just haven't put in the money to get it yet, gonna wait until I can do a new bumper. I think I'm gonna want to go with the LCAs, would like the extra clearance compared to a drop bracket.

The joints are fine and the link and rod are in fine shape. Just thinking of ways to beef up my front end. I know about gussets and trussing, however I don't know a welder. Is it expensive to have a shop do it?

Gussets aren't that bad, just tedious to keep from cooking the ball joints, trussing requires axle removal, so a bit more costly. I'd get the LCA's, and Gussets. You may not have a problem, but it's expensive if you bend a C. Watch your front driveshaft if you disconnect. Once the boot tears you have a limited lifespan after that.
Look into flipping the steering stabilizer. I hit my bracket on a rock and bent the tie rod.
One mod leads to another, to another......

Definitely noticed that one mod leads to another and leads to another after that haha. I'm ok with that though, I like making my toys more fun.

This is still my daily driver so it probably won't get crazy. But thanks for the input, I'll have to price out the gussets and see how much my local shop will do them for.

Any recommendations from anyone on LCAs? I'm looking at the teraflex arms since I went that route on the lift. Anything wrong with mismatching with other companies?

Nope, there is usually nothing wrong with mix and matching, lots of us do it. Just do a little research before hand so you don't get a surprise. Some arms are bent differently than others for clearance, and there are various types of joints to consider. (I just went with metalcloak arms since I am getting lazy in my old age and am trying to move away from all of the greasable components.)

Are you considering new balljoints, or gears and/or lockers at some point? If so, that would be an excellent time to get the gussets done (and sleeves or truss, if you are so inclined).

I have been looking into doing gears, just to bring it back to stock, maybe some 4.88s I've heard anything higher and you start to get driveshaft vibrations, lockers I haven't decided yet. Not sure if I will be wheeling that hard. Ball joints probably just to get them out of the way and to have that confidence that they're done.

The greasable joints don't bother me, I have no problem getting down there and doing it. So I guess I'll have to do some research about arms.

Right now since summer is almost here I'm looking into soft tops, probably gonna go with the trektop NX. So that + arms will probably be my next purchase
