New Wheels and Tires
ProComp 7089 17x8 rims. 4.5 back spacing.
ProComp Xtreme 285/70R/17
I ordered them from 4wd.com. They where very helpful on the phone. The rims and tires, which came mounted and balance showed up in the exact time they told me it would be. 4 weeks.
I put them on this afternoon at a local garage owned by a friend. Drove it later in the day on a faster road and the car was shaking like a leaf when I started doing 40mph. I'm going to have the rims and tires rebalanced Monday morning. We should have checked them before we put them on the Jeep. They also should have been correctly balanced from who ever mounted them. This wouldn't deter me from using 4wd.com again, they made the whole process very easy.
I'm very happy with the look. It's exactly what I was going for. Everyone on this forum was extremely helpful in making my decisions. Thanks.
Also, If anyone is interested in 5 stock very little used (460mil.) 16in. Alloy rims (see photo), on 245/70/16 Goodyear Wranglers, PM me.

That rim & tire combo looks great!! What it set you back? (if you don't mind me askin')
Do those rims have any kind of a center cap? Or is that just exposed hub through the center hole?
Tony-

I don't mind you asking... just under 2 grand. I got quotes for over 3 at local wheel shops. 4wd.com also threw in locking lug nuts.
Thanks. I'm really happy with the way it sits. Everything is stock. There is absolutley no rake and so far, zero rubbing.
Research on this forum is the only thing I can come up with.
A stock Rubicon tire is 32/10.5/17. My set up measures 33/11.5/17
The stock Rubicon rims are 17 with 6" backspacing.
The ProComp rims are 17 with 4.5 backspacing.
That extra 1.5" of backspacing pushes the wheels out enough to compensate for the extra 1" of tire and gives the Jeep a nice beefy look by pushing the wheels out past the fender. 33's are only an inch taller than the Rubicons, so if I do any heavy wheel'n i might rub on the fender wall. I'm not really concerned about this because most of the wheel'n I'm doing will be on beaches and trails but mostly on roads and highways.
Is that a good explanation?

This maybe more theory than explanation but I would say it was my order, which I also researched on this forum. They set the rear shocks differently for the hardtops than the soft tops at the factory to make up for the added weight. I ordered the soft top from the factory. I wasn't interested in getting the hard top.

RedWrangler, That's a sweet lookin' setup. I've been wondering if you could run 33's without a lift and that answers my question. how are those tires on the highway? I do about 80 miles a day and am wondering how road friendly they are.
