Default Newb question....

Well in about a month I will finally be back from deployment and out of this shit hole side of the earth.. well for one year atleast. My Rough Country 2.2 series shocks are squeeking pretty bad and need to be replaced. Im thinking about stalling a 1.5'' body lift to my current system(compenste for bumper weight). So my question: Do i need larger shocks if im installing the BL? Also, is it normal for shocks to go bad (or start squeeking like crazy) in one year? Thanks in advance for any advice!

No, you won't need longer shocks with a BL. Now, I wouldn't go with a BL to compensate for bumper weight.

A body lift won't affect shock travel. The shocks attach to the frame and the body sits on top so no need to replace. Now about the shocks going bad I have no clue. Never owned a shock long enough to destroy it with age. The only shock I've had fail lost a battle with a limb.... :(

that shock squeaking is odd. I'd ring RC and see what they think before spending any dough.

X2. Skip the body lift, you will regret it. Go with coil spacers and call it a day.

i concur. I had a body lift briefly for clearance, i removed it when i went to my coil lift. It was only a 1" lift but i really hated the gaps and the way it looked (just my personal preference, others like them, i dont like the gaps)

i would use coil spacers or better yet, get new springs
