Default newb question? Teraflex or BB?

i just bought a 2010 unlimited sahara, i plan on adding a rugged ridge bumper with winch. i drive this jeep about 90% on road and i dont want to change the ride of it.( i traded in my 03 lifted rubicon because it beat the hell out of me as a DD) so is there a leveling kit or small lift that will not change the ride?

I started out with just the Teraflex 2 1/2 BB which had the same factory ride quality, maybe a little better because of the wheel spacers with the factory rims/tires. Switched to 35's and was still pleasantly suprised with the ride. When I added a front bumper and winch the Jeep sagged in the front and the handling/ride quality suffered considerably. I added the 3" front TF springs and Monster trackbar and all is great now - ride is better than factory and it is leveled out.

Your '03 TJ had very short control arms compared to the new JK design. Lift kits changed the angle on those CA significantly to the point where the ride became rather harsh.

You have a lot more flexibility with the JK due to its relatively longer CAs before you experience the same problems.

I just changed from stock springs with an RC 2.5 BB/2.2 shocks to the TF 2.5 coil lift/9550 shocks. The ride has improved--takes rough patches much more smoothly--and gave me an additional 1" of lift on the front and 3/4" lift on the rear (counteracting lost height due to very heavy bumpers/winch/racks). Not sure why you wouldn't want to change to a better ride quality, but avoid that lift if you're truly serious.

sorry i didnt know a lift could actually improve the ride, im used to the old TJ's where if you lift it, its going to ride like a tank

I had a Teraflex 2.5 BB and after I added front bumper and winch, it sagged a lot. I had to add Teraflex 3" springs and they work great.

The suspensions of the JK are far better than the TJ. You really can't compare them. The key is to get the right caster angle by getting the control arms. I still use stock control arms and the ride, while stiffer than stock, is still fine for DD.

As far as rough country lifts... They have good prices, but not the best products. Lots of people use them with no problems, but there are better brands. I have no personal experience with them. The kit you are looking at does not appear to contain track bar brackets or adjustable track bars, which you will probably need to center the axles after the lift. Keep that in mind. You'll also need wheel spacers.

money isnt really an issue, i just didnt want to start changing stock springs and arms because i figured it would screw up the ride ( like it did in my TJ)

I'm in the same spot with my Unlimited - want to a little lift to level out and planning to add RR bumper and winch. Now with the springs and the trackbars, this is quickly getting to be more work than I can do myself.
